Passenger trains have now returned to Wensleydale after nearly half a century.
Trains run from Northallerton West and Leeming Bar, close to the A1 at Bedale, and follow the scenic route to Bedale, Leyburn and Redmire in Wensleydale.
Most services are operated by the Wensleydale Railway’s heritage diesel railcar, with excellent views from all seats. There are also steam-hauled trains in the peak summer months.
Direct trains serve Northallerton from York, Leeds, Middlesbrough and Darlington.
The bus stop for
Leeming Bar and Wensleydale Railway is opposite Northallerton Station,
on Dales & District services 73 (Monday to Saturday) and 856 (Sundays and Bank Holidays).
